Now at 8pm, head over to the International Ballroom for an entertaining and easy introduction to swing dancing. In under an hour you'll know enough basic steps to dance the night away! Stay and enjoy the sounds of the 17-piece Impressions in Jazz Orchestra treating you to authentic recreations of the jazz music of the 20's, 30's and 40's! Not enough for you? Sit back and watch Swing Dynamite's performance, and the Jitterbug Contest!

Want to learn to swing dance? We have a complimentary swing lesson provided free with your ticket that is perfect for beginners! Learn from the best teachers at Swing Dynamite. More ambitious dancers should check out the Ottawa Swing Explosion, a full weekend workshop in swing dancing!

The Jitterbug Contest!
Sit back and watch some of Ottawa's best dancers face off against dancers from other cities in an inter-city swing contest! Or, for the experienced dancers, here are the contest details:
- Dance Styles: Any style of swing dance. Preference will be given to dancers who match the music well.
- Rules: No rules! You'll be judged on the overall coolness of your dancing!
- Entry: Dancers of any level can enter. Entry fee of $10 per couple.
- Partners: You choose your partner, we choose the music!
- Prize: $100 to the winning couple!
The Impressions in Jazz Orchestra!
Ottawa's premiere Jazz orchestra, the IJO includes some of the very best jazz musicians in Ottawa. Under the direction of founder Adrian Cho, the orchestra has become known for ground-breaking material and masterful performances. We're very proud to present the elite Impressions In Jazz Orchestra to Ottawa's swing dancers this year for Swing Explosion! This is truly a special experience, to enjoy the rich jazz music of the 20's, 30's and 40's as they danced to it in the swing era!

If it isn't enough to have one of Canada's best swing bands, we won't be disappointing you during the band breaks, either! We'll have some of Canada's best DJs of swing, jazz and blues music filling in the gaps to ensure a fabulous night of dancing!
